From our organization we offer several services, some free and others paid. Our main goal is to look after children with their best interest as a priority. For families we offer: Counseling parents looking for the best option for an international adoption. Although he had suffered much in the orphanage due to his small stature and strawberry birthmark on his face, he was never harsh or angry. That is just a way of life in Ukraine. We loved him so much that we brought him over via the same program the next summer.
Then we started bringing him over on our own. We helped him get a visa and paid for his airfare. Because of his frequent travel to the US, he was able to get an extended visa and, through a job, he was able to come over almost every summer.
We were delighted and always looks forward to him being able to come and spend time with us. The number of children living in orphanages in Ukraine is sky-rocketing.
Due to an unstable economy, in-country strife, and poverty, children are often left to live in the orphanages. Many of the children will not have had the opportunity to be what they are — a kid. Children around the world living in orphanages often experience lack of education, food shortages, neglect, abuse, and violence. Many have experienced life on the street.
