He created folder structures that were 10 level deep and each folder had unusually long names. In my situation, if you end up creating a file path that is longer than characters, then Windows can't figure out how to work with that file.

I recently came upon a problem on one of my servers in which one of our employees all of a sudden had a file tell him he didn't have permissions which he did previously only person other then the administrators who has access to this area of files.
Upon clicking the properties of the file in question to check the permissions, I noticed that all the tabs in the properties were gone except "General". I cannot delete, modify, move, do anything to this file no matter what account I use. I have tried both the local Administrator and Domain Administrator accounts with no luck. I am trying to share quickbooks company file on this server. Only one person can access it without getting an error.
I did check opportunistic locking and that didn't solve the problem. Please help. Open Windows Explorer. Choose Tools, Folder Options, View. At the bottom of the list, uncheck to use Simple File Sharing. Windows Server does not have simple file sharing because it is part of the domain. Have you tried viewing the Security Tab logged on as a different user? I have tried logging in as 3 different users with 2 of them having admin rights. Was your server built on a fat32 partition? Come for the solution, stay for everything else. Welcome to our community! We have one hidden file that cannot be deleted on a Server R2 SP2. There is no security or summary tab on this file's and only this file's properties page, nor any Created, Modified or Accessed data on the General tab.
The filesize is 0 bytes on the General tab, and 82 bytes from dir in CMD. From CMD, trying to change attributes yields "Unable to change attribute". In the directory containing the file, Administrator has full control of "this folder, subfolders and files". This file shows just "??? The filename is ". In the right pane, right click on " Remove Security tab " and click on Edit. Ensure Disabled is selected. If the windows components, file explorer etc. It should surely resolve the problem.
